PAINTING WITH THE SUN
DISCOVERING THE MAGIC OF CYANOTYPE
What if we could draw using only sunlight? In this workshop we will discover cyanotype, an old photographic technique that turns light into intense blue images. We will experiment with leaves, flowers, everyday objects, transparencies, and natural materials to create unique compositions full of magic.
It is an activity designed so that children and families can experiment, play, and be amazed as they discover a different way of creating images.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
- We will discover what cyanotype is and how it works.
- We will create compositions with leaves, flowers, feathers, textures, and everyday objects.
- We will develop our works using only water and sunlight.
- We will experiment with different forms of composition and learn that there is no single way to create.
WHAT DO WE WORK ON?
- Artistic experimentation.
- Creativity and imagination.
- Observation and connection with nature.
- Discovery of the first photographic processes.
- Scientific curiosity.
- Free artistic expression.
WHAT DOES THE WORKSHOP INCLUDE?
- All the materials needed to make the cyanotype.
- Photosensitive emulsions, papers, and experimentation materials.
- Natural elements and objects to create the compositions (or participants can bring their own small objects or plants).
- Support throughout the whole creative process.
- Several cyanotype pieces so that each participant can experiment with different compositions.
FINAL RESULT
Each participant will take home several cyanotype prints created by themselves and will have discovered a surprising artistic technique that combines science, nature, and creativity.
Beyond the pieces created, they will take home the experience of having painted with the sun.
Ideal for creative birthdays, summer camps, schools, libraries, family activities, and any space that wants to offer a different, surprising, and magical artistic experience.
